Company Policies & Procedures
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Act One is dedicated to providing quality education in the performing arts. In addition to preparing
students for a performing career, Act One is equally beneficial in developing confidence, articulation,
communication skills, whilst encouraging creativity, team work and stretching the imagination.
STAFF
It is the policy of Act One that all staff are checked through the Criminal Records Bureau for their
suitability to work with children. All our staff are experienced in teaching and are performers in
their own right. Public Liability Insurance has been taken out to cover each teacher. Act One have a
Child Protection Policy in place, please request a copy if required.
ATTENDANCE
To achieve maximum results of training and proper progression, students are asked to attend all
classes and rehearsals. To minimise absences, parents are urged to take into consideration classes
and rehearsals when scheduling their children for appointments and when planning family holidays.
Please be sure to call the Office or Act One mobile and leave a message to excuse a student from
class, as we may call you to see why the child has not attended. Regular absentees will be asked to
leave the classes and free the space for another student.
Students are expected to arrive on time for the start of their classes and rehearsals.
CLASS BEHAVIOUR
In order to achieve the skill level required in dance, drama and singing, students should understand
the necessary level of focus and concentration that will be required of them prior to attending class.
Whilst we encourage ideas from students and wish classes to be fun, we politely request the co-
operation and respectful behaviour to the teachers and other students. Students who are disruptive
will be asked to observe the class so that others may continue their work. Act One reserves the right
to dismiss students who are consistently disruptive.
UNIFORM
Children should be dressed appropriately for dance and drama class in the required uniform. (Black
jogging pants, Act One t-shirt & sweatshirt, black jazz shoes or black pumps.) No jewellery to be worn
and long hair is to be tied away from the face.
Failure to do so on a regular occurrence will result in the student being asked to observe the class.
